Deirdre's story

Graham, my husband of 29 years, was always active as an electrician. On October 5th, 2023, a severe fall at work changed everything. He was rushed to Bristol Hospital with a traumatic brain injury, requiring two surgeries and placed into a coma. After two months, he was transferred to The John Radcliffe Hospital.

His brain injury left him confused and sometimes aggressive, and there were times when I didn’t know how we would manage.  

But then we found Oxford Head Injury Services. Graham now attends their Activity and Rehabilitation Centre several times a week, where he enjoys the gym and weekly trips to a local farm.  

This support has been a lifeline, giving me the time I need to rest while helping Graham progress in his recovery. Without it, Graham would have had to go into a care home, which we wanted to avoid.
