Volunteer: Simon's Story

Simon is one of our incredible volunteers at our Activity & Rehabilitation Centre.

I am Simon I had a stroke in late 2020, I was in hospital for about 4 months. I could not talk, walk, or write my name.

I’ve persevered, and now I can talk, write, drive, and walk a little bit.

I was made redundant in 2025 so I thought what can I do, I wanted to give something back to the community.

I volunteer at Oxford Head Injury Services. I talk to the service users and more importantly just listen. I help out with various things; and where appropriate I give advice about what has helped me.

It is very rewarding seeing the service users develop and grow.
