Grant Funding and Volunteer Support Create New Accessible Garden Space at our Centre

Service users with accessible garden beds at Oxford Head Injury Services

We are excited to announce the completion of new accessible raised garden beds at our Activity & Rehabilitation Centre, made possible thanks to a generous grant from SOHA Housing Community Fund.

The beds were brought to life by a fantastic team of volunteers from RWK Goodman who spent the day at the Centre filling and planting them. Their enthusiasm, teamwork and willingness to get involved made a huge difference to the project. It was a pleasure to welcome them to the Centre, and our service users and team thoroughly enjoyed having them with us.

Creating a more inclusive outdoor space

The raised beds have been designed to make gardening activities more accessible for our service users, including wheelchair users and those with mobility challenges. They are already helping create a more inclusive outdoor space where more people can take part in outdoor activities that support wellbeing, confidence, connection and independence.

Gardening offers a range of physical, emotional and social benefits. For many people affected by brain injury, it can provide opportunities to build confidence, learn new skills, spend time outdoors and connect with others in a supportive environment.

We’re very grateful

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Notcutts Garden Centre for their generous donation of plants and soil, which helped transform the beds into a welcoming and vibrant space ready for service users to enjoy.

While the project is still in its early stages, it has already been wonderful to see the raised beds being used. We are excited to watch the garden continue to grow over the coming months and to see the positive impact it will have on our service users and wider community.

We are incredibly grateful to SOHA Housing Community Fund, RWK Goodman and Notcutts Garden Centre for helping make this project possible
