Highly Commended
Oxford Head Injury Services is very proud to share that our Rehabilitation Team was shortlisted and received Highly Commended in the Rehabilitation and Reablement Award category at the 2026 Stars of Social Care – Teams Awards.
The national awards celebrate the collaboration, compassion and dedication that define social care at its very best, recognising teams across the country who go above and beyond in supporting people to recover and regain independence after illness, injury or hospital discharge.
Receiving this recognition is an incredible achievement for our charity and reflects the commitment, care and professionalism shown by our Rehabilitation Team in supporting people living with acquired brain injury across Oxfordshire.
Acquired brain injury can affect every part of a person’s life, including mobility, communication, cognition and wellbeing. Oxford Head Injury Services provides long-term rehabilitation and community support to help people rebuild their lives after brain injury, understanding that recovery does not end at hospital discharge.
Members of the team attended the awards ceremony on Friday 8 May, hosted by Josie Gibson, alongside many other inspiring organisations and professionals making a significant difference across the social care sector.
Michelle Koukoullis, Oxford Head Injury Services CEO said:
We are incredibly proud of our Rehabilitation Team and everything they do for the people we support. Every day, the team go above and beyond to make the impossible possible, and to be recognised nationally alongside so many remarkable organisations is an honour.
Our charity provides a welcoming specialist centre offering personalised rehabilitation and community support, with the goal of preventing hospital readmissions, reducing reliance on social care and helping people regain confidence, independence and control of their futures. This recognition reflects the compassion, dedication and expertise our team bring to their work every single day. It is very well deserved.
An Oxford Head Injury Services team member shared:
To be in a place where kindness, patience, support and laughter happen daily truly makes the world a better place and makes being human the most rewarding.
The charity would also like to congratulate all nominees and winners recognised at this year’s awards.
