Hats for Headway – Royds Withy King

Massive thanks to one of our corporate supporters, Royds Withy King, for hosting a “Hats for Headway” day in their office and raised £100! Your donations will help to support people with brain injury across the county!

“We ran a small competition in the Oxford office for the best hat with a biscuit tin up for grabs! Everyone at Royds Withy King was very pleased to be involved.” – Mark from Royds Withy King.

National Citizens Service – Bicester A Team

A huge thanks to the NCS team of young fundraisers, who organised cake sales, bag packing and car washes to raise £200 for Oxford Head Injury Services! You giving back to the community is highly appreciated.

“My young people really enjoyed meeting your service users, learning about the organisation and fundraising. We had a cake sale and car wash and it was amazing. They were really engaged and managed to raise awareness so hopefully we’ve reached the wider community”. – Nyasha, NCS Team Leader.

Live to Tri – Karen and Chloe

Congratulations to Karen and Chloe, who took part in the Blenheim Triathlon and smashed their fundraising target, and very kindly donated an incredible £1,620 to Oxford Head Injury Services, plus £300 in Gift Aid.

“This charity does brilliant things and supports both the families and individuals affected by brain damage. We decided to do this triathlon and choose this charity because both of us have been closely affected from family and friends with brain damage, my dad and Chloe’s closest mate”.

Celebrate 30 years with Oxford Head Injury Services by giving them your support.

Celebrate 30 years with Oxford Head Injury Services by giving them your support.

15th July 2018

We are encouraging individuals and local businesses to show their support by fundraising and choosing them as “Charity of the Year” for our 30th anniversary.

We have big plans for the upcoming year, hosting new and exciting events, as well as taking part in even more fundraising challenges.

By choosing to give your support to a local charity, you get to see the impact in a very real sense, on the ground, in your own community. By supporting Oxford Head Injury Services, you can see the difference you are making first-hand to those affected by this most complex condition. Living with a brain injury can often be a lifelong challenge, but with the right support and rehabilitation, individuals can relearn lost skills and new ways of coping, allowing them to maximise the potential of their lives going forward.

A partnership between Oxford Head Injury Services and your business will not only enhance team spirit but will also create lasting friendships. If you are looking to take on new challenges with your business, then choose Oxford Head Injury Services.

On 5th October, Oxford Head Injury Services, we are hosting our Annual Golf Day fundraiser at Frilford Heath Golf Course. In the past, the event has always been a success and this year is even more special to us, as we are celebrating our 30th Anniversary. There are still spaces available.

As well as hosting fundraising events, we provide specialist and professional support services through a variety of projects including our Activity & Rehabilitation Centre, Community Support Team and Personal Assistant service. Practical and tangible opportunities are provided to improve rehabilitation outcomes and support people to maximise their independence and long-term community integration.

Over 30 years ago, in the absence of any formal services, a group of family members and carers came together for mutual support. This became a formal Headway group in 1988. Over the intervening years, we have grown into the highly professional organisation you see today. I am hugely proud of our achievements and the tireless efforts of staff and volunteers. Our plans for the future are really exciting and will see us grow further and reaching more of those needing our support.

Every year, 4,000 people a year are admitted to hospital with a brain injury and currently Oxford Head Injury Services are only able to reach 10% of those people with the resources that we have. It would be great to be able to increase that percentage and we can do so through the support of individuals, families and businesses taking on fundraising challenges and choosing us as charity of the year.
