We are extremely proud to announce that we are the Official Event Charity for this year’s Blenheim Horse Trials.

We are absolutely thrilled to be the nominated charity at the 2017 Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials. We see the partnership between Oxford Head Injury Services and the Blenheim Horse Trials as a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of equestrian safety, to highlight the vital work that we do and to raise much-needed funds to sustain this work.

Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials is one of the UK’s leading and largest three-star events and attracts over 60,000 visitors each year, as well as the world’s leading event riders and many keen amateur competitors. It takes place in September (13th – 17th 2017) and is the largest sporting event in Oxfordshire. Four days of demonstrations and lectures, over 200 trade stands and ancillary competitions and activities support and add further value to one of the world’s leading CCI3*s and the British championship CIC3* for 8/9yo horses. The event also hosts the final of the Event Rider Masters competition, run at CIC3* level.

We have supported a number of people whose brain injuries were the result of horse riding accidents. Due to the risks associated with horse riding, it is vital that riders are aware of the steps they can take to minimise injury. A partnership between Oxford Head Injury Services and the Blenheim Horse Trials will provide an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of equestrian safety. We believe in the premise that life should be experienced to the fullest. Activities that involve risk are a fundamental part of what makes life exciting and worthwhile. As such, we are fully supportive of people’s choices to make informed decisions around their chosen sport or activity as long as they are aware of the risks and how to minimise the chance of injuries occurring.

All of us here at Headway would like to give a massive thank you to Pat and Mary Mulqueen for their amazing donation of £810. They raised the sum by holding a fabulous lunch in association with Our Lady in St. Edmunds Church.

This donation will help go toward the funding of our Neurological Physiotherapy Gym at our Rehabilitation Centre in Kennington. To help those affected by brain injury in Oxfordshire have access to top of the line physio treatment.
