Oxford Head Injury Services, were announced winners on Thursday 24th October at the Against Breast Cancer Achievement Awards.

The awards, which recognise individuals and groups who play key roles within their communities, took place at the Hilton Hotel in Reading.  Over 150 attendees dressed in dazzling black tie attire to enjoy the evening.

On winning the award, Sharelle Holdsworth, Events and Fundraising Officer at Oxford Head Injury Services said: “It is an honour for Oxford Head Injury Services to be recognised by our peers, for the impact of our vital work within the Oxfordshire community.”

Charlotte Carlisle, Operations Manager said in her acceptance speech: “I’d like to accept this award in recognition of our incredibly hard-working Activity and Rehabilitation Centre staff and volunteers, who work tirelessly and are truly dedicated to improving people’s lives following a brain injury.”

Other winners on the night included Play2Give Founder, Andrew Baker, who was announced the winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Andrew, who sustained a brain injury himself now uses Oxford Head Injury Services’s services. He was recently nominated for ‘Fundraiser of the Year’ in the Pride of Britain Awards and has since been awarded a British Citizen Award for Voluntary and Charitable Service.

Andrew said: “It was a lovely night full of amazing stories of amazing people, charities and companies who are all doing incredible things for their communities.

“It was a magical and special night that I will never forget. I truly will forever hold this one dear to my heart.”
